Scanlan Construction is a trusted building contractor delivering high-quality construction projects across Yorkshire, the North East and the North West of England. We work across commercial, residential, bespoke and heritage sectors, combining technical expertise with a practical, hands-on approach to every project we take on.
Founded by Construction Director Darragh Spencer, the company was built on the principle of dependable and sustainable building contracting, supported by strong relationships with clients, architects, quantity surveyors, project managers, subcontractors and suppliers. With experience delivering projects in excess of £6 million, Darragh brings both technical knowledge and a straightforward, collaborative approach to project delivery.

Redcar Steel Works (1973)
Constructing Stacker Tracks that received goods from ships and moved to various locations around the complex. Employer, P J Hopkins.

Our Story & History
Over that time, Darragh worked closely with clients, architects, quantity surveyors, project managers, subcontractors, tradespeople and suppliers, developing a collaborative approach that still defines the business today.
The aim has always been straightforward: to deliver construction work that people can rely on, backed by clear communication, proper planning and a strong sense of responsibility from start to finish.
Leadership and Experience
Darragh holds a degree in Construction Engineering Management from Northumbria University and has worked at senior level delivering complex projects valued in excess of £6 million.
His approach is hands-on and practical, but also personable. He understands the importance of communication on site and takes pride in building strong working relationships with everyone involved in a project, from clients through to site teams.
